The angle at which the tungsten is ground is critical for TIG welding. For DCEN (Direct Current Electrode Negative) welding, the electrode should be sharpened to a specific angle, typically 2 to 2.5 times the electrode diameter.
Some welders prefer a flat tip to minimize the risk of the tip breaking off during welding. For AC (Alternating Current) welding, a balled tip is required, which can be achieved by initiating an arc with the electrode connected to the positive side of the welder until the tip melts
